FRERK: On Course for Expansion with a new Hall Construction for Emergency Power Systems
)
Schweringen / Germany, 17.04.2025
Ferk Aggregatebau GmbH is expanding its headquarters in Schweringen, Lower Saxony. The modern production hall measures just under 8,000 m² and construction just began with the groundbreaking ceremony on April 16, 2025. Due to the increased global market demand in the data center sector, the company has reached the limits of its current capacities.
The new building represents the highest single investment in Frerk's 60-year company history. It will be used to realize the missing manufacturing and testing capacity. The company is thus consolidating its market and competence position as a system provider of power generators and emergency power systems in Germany. More than 60 secure permanent jobs will be created at the peak of expansion.
The new building on 27,000 m² of industrial and commercial space at the headquarters of Frerk Aggregatebau GmbH in German Schweringen will take concrete shape in April 2025. After a comprehensive two-year planning phase in cooperation with the architectural firm Schlake from Syke, the contract was awarded to the general contractor Max Bögl from German Liebenau at the end of March 2025. The new hall, which will break ground on April 16 and be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026, will enable a capacity increase of almost 100 percent. Within the 7,860 m² new building, a further 16 production stations will be created in the future. The focus is on turn-key, space-optimised versions of containerised emergency power supply and UPS systems, so-called e-pods. These ensure an uninterruptible power supply with a special focus on the globally booming data center market. With additional indoor and outdoor test stations, Frerk is increasing its test capability to a final 19 system test benches. Frerk Aggregatebau GmbH will thus underpin its important position in the German market for replacement power supply systems. The new Hall 6 is adjoined by a two-story office wing. More than 60 new secure jobs in production and administration will be created.
"We can meet the increasing market requirements in terms of size and performance in production and in the test field with the new hall cubature," explains Marc Hiller, Managing Director of Frerk Aggregatebau GmbH, and goes into more detail: "In July 2024, we celebrated our 60th company anniversary. Now we are making the largest single investment in our history. What makes us so confident? We are in a growing market driven by the demand for diesel backup power solutions and battery-powered uninterruptible power supply, especially in the data center sector. We operate as an experienced system integrator of turn-key solutions worldwide."
